01 · The standard
The standard we work to
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site partially conforms: most pages meet the standard, and we list the exceptions below.
02 · Testing
How we test
We fix accessibility problems in the site's own code. We don't use an accessibility overlay or widget.
Before we change the site, we run an automated WCAG 2.2 AA check on the home page, the STOMACH page, the cart, About, The Science and search, at desktop and phone sizes. Automated tools miss problems a person would notice, so we also work through the purchase by keyboard: choosing a delivery option, adding to the cart and starting checkout.
In October 2026 we audited 40 pages of the site against WCAG 2.2 AA and fixed what we found in our own code. We plan to repeat the audit each quarter.
03 · Known gaps
Known limitations
Other companies run parts of this site, and a few gaps sit in our own pages:
- Checkout and express payment. Shopify runs checkout and the Shop Pay and Google Pay buttons, and publishes its own accessibility information for them. In Windows high-contrast mode, those buttons and the account icon show no focus outline.
- Product page on a phone. A keyboard or screen reader reaches the image gallery before the product name and price.
- High zoom. At 400% zoom, the header and the Add to cart bar stay on screen and take up much of the product page.
- Your account and subscriptions. Shopify runs the customer account, and Recharge runs the portal where you change, pause or cancel a subscription. We haven't tested either yet.
We're working on the two product page items.
